I had this grand plan to teach you all to make these this week. I have the fabric and lace all ready to go. But...there are times when a grand idea is a fail. Yep...my tutorial has failed. It's not a fail forever though.
I purchased ruffled lace trim with the idea of sewing it to a knit, then adding elastic strips to the inside, similar to the lace legwarmers that I made a couple of weeks ago. That is great in design, except that the ruffled lace trim is too bulky to "gather up" again with the elastic, but it doesn't stretch at all to eliminate the elastic. The legwarmers must stretch well to go over the foot at the ankle, but snap back into shape well and stay up on the leg. That makes for a need of about 40% stretch.... Or a soft enough lace to gather up well w/elastic.
My new plan is to get stretch lace and try again.
Since you are all excited to see a tutorial. Click on the tutorial link under our website header. There are over 60 tutorials in there. I'm sure you'll find something new to try.
