We have a new e-Pattern for you. With the encouragement of a friend, thanks Lori, I've written up the Fun and Easy Knit Top/Dress e-pattern. You really can create tops and dresses to your liking with ease. You can see another version (shirt and seperate skirt) at Lori's blog.
This top pattern is designed to be easy to fit and quick to assemble, yet stylish.
You have the opportunity to use a knit shirt that fits well to create a variety of shirts/dresses for yourself or anyone in your family.
Using the well fitting shirt as a template, this pattern will teach you to draft a shirt pattern of your own. It's really very easy and only involves creating 3 pattern pieces; front, back, sleeve. We've made many of these shirts/dresses already. In fact, it's easier to make a new one than to wash a dirty one...lol.
From this pattern you can lengthen or shorten sleeves, or shirt length, add ruffles, bands, or even a skirt to create a dress.
The techniques within this pattern are not meant to teach sewing in the “traditional” sense, but to help you create garments in a quick, yet stylish way.

Happy Sewing!
